de Nederlandse ggz (Dutch Association of Mental Health and Addiction Care) is the sector organization of specialist mental health and addiction care providers in the Netherlands. The aim of de Nederlandse ggz and its member organizations is to ensure the availability of high quality, accessible, affordable and sustainable mental health care. Our nearly 100 member organizations deliver a wide variety of valuable services to the public, ranging from mental health promotion, prevention and primary mental health care to assisted independent living, sheltered housing, ambulatory specialist mental health care, clinical psychiatric and forensic institutional care.
Approximately 85,000 employees of our member organizations advised, treated and supported people suffering from mild, moderate and severe mental health conditions. In the Netherlands, mental health problems are the major cause of burden of disease.
De Nederlandse ggz is guided by five ambitions.
• Addressing the waiting lists of mental health care
• Early detection and prevention of child abuse
• Zero suicide
• No more stigmas about mental health problems
• The best possible mental health care.
To make this happen, we seek partnerships inside and outside the sector through our ‘value networks’ (waardenetwerken). Through these networks we share knowledge and innovations and we come to alliances and new forms of cooperation. Because good mental health belongs to all of us. Everyone can contribute: clients and experience experts, family and loved ones, neighbors and friends, practitioners and other care providers, administrators and executives, policy makers and politicians.
Internationally, de Nederlandse ggz is an active member of Mental Health Europe and EuroHealthNet. With its European partners, De Nederlandse ggz supports initiatives and alliances that emphasizes the importance of good mental health for the European public and the European economy.
We believe that working with organizations from abroad can help us meet common challenges for a mentally healthy society. We work together with international organizations such as EUCOMS, the WHO, the OECD and IIMHL.
We share our knowledge during our quarterly webinars and newsletters and are committed to international projects such as Thrive - Amsterdam, Mental Health.
We are addressing mental health and wellness issues that require an international perspective. Where possible, we link members directly if we think this offers a great opportunity for collaboration.
